Hot pressed

Hot-pressed paper has a very smooth surface, which makes it ideal for detailed work. Its name comes from the manufacturing process, in which the paper is passed through hot rollers that effectively iron it flat.

This paper is so called because it is not hot pressed; thus, it retains some texture. There isn’t so much texture to get in the way of detail, but it has enough to inject some character, and it holds on to more water, enabling you to work the paint longer.
